Respect is the UK membership organisation for work with domestic violence perpetrators, male victims and young people. Respect runs two helplines, the Respect Phoneline and the Men’s Advice Line. Both have been accredited with the Helplines Partnership’s Quality Standard.
We are looking to recruit two Helpline Advisors to provide support to male victims, and perpetrators, of domestic violence via the Men’s Advice Line and Respect Phoneline.
The Respect Phoneline is for: people who are abusive towards their partners and want help to stop; women and men who experience domestic violence and are seeking help on behalf of their partners; professionals seeking advice on how best to deal with clients using abusive behaviours in their relationships and requesting information about behaviour-change programmes, resources and publicity materials.
The Men’s Advice Line is for: male victims of domestic violence (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships); concerned friends and family looking for help and support on behalf of a male victim; professionals seeking advice on how best to deal with male victims of domestic violence and requesting information about services, resources and publicity materials for male victims.
We are looking to appoint:
1 full-time post, 35hrs per week (HW5) and
1 part-time post, 21 hrs per week (HW3), Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Office Location The Green House, 244-254, Cambridge Heath Road, London E2 9DA (opportunity to occasionally work from home after successful completion of probationary period).

Hours: Full-time post: 35 hours per week (code: HW5); Part-time post: 21 hours per week (code: HW3), Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Salary: Respect scale related to NJC point 30-34 (£30,995- £34,403p.a. pro-rata).
The successful candidates will have:
- An understanding of the nature of domestic violence
- Experience of domestic violence related client work;
- Experience of providing information, advice and support by telephone in a helpline environment
- The ability to cover up to two evening shifts per week (Monday and Wednesday 17:00-20:00) on a rota system with colleagues.
