PROVIDE research: men and domestic violence in health settings

Latest news August 2014: The findings from this major research are now out and we are pleased to be participating in the launch conference on Wednesday 19 November in Bristol.

We are one of the collaborating partners in the PROVIDE research project led by the University of Bristol. Our role in this includes:

  • Active participation in the research advisory group
  • Developing and helping to implement and evaluate a model of identification and referral for GPs of men involved in domestic violence.
  • Using our Helpline database to identify calls made to the Men’s Advice Line or Respect Phoneline as a result of GPs using this model.
  • Co-authoring the research paper on the above study.

This research collaboration has allowed us to contribute what we have learnt about ways of engaging men in talking about domestic violence and our training skills to assist health professionals to learn about this and use the model.
